Spending an evening at Banyini pan is really worthwhile. The reserve is already fairly dry,with only a few pans being supplied with water. It is a great attraction for the animals.

These baboons were the highlight. Baboons are always entertaining to watch and really deserve more ‘press coverage’ on the african safari.

I had just left camp when I got a radio call to say there was a Wild Dog with a collar on the Orphan road close Nyari pan.
I rushed out there but was too late.

In these dry times I’m surprised more animals don’t take advantage of the green grass flourishing in Banyini pan, just a lone zebra. A few birds patrolled the shores, Painted Snipe and Wood Sandpipers.
But all this green food proved too much for the zebra which moved on to drier pastures to balance his rich diet.
