On my trip to Africa I was able to capture an Elephant giving a fake charge at us. We surpised him and us as we came around the corner of the road he was on my side of the vehicle he trumpted and flared his ears. He waited a min. then flared his ears and took three running steps towards us. He then backed down. Before my trip I had told my wife that I would love to get a shot of an Elephant doing a fake charge and I was successful. This is an awesome shot you have here! You were really close to this guy also.

This is an awesome shot and another question for you...is there a problem with a severe drought over there that is taking a toll on the elephants? Also is there still a huge problem with poaching for their tusks?

No we're not in a drought at all. Had good rains last year. Poaching here is not a problem and elephant numbers are on the increase to the stage now where they are damaging habitat beyond repair. Elsewhere in Africa elephant poaching is a serious problem and that is why there is a blanket ban on elephant hunting.

This is a wonderful photo, its almost like im there. Who sets regulations for hunting and such in Africa? Is it the governemtn of the country or some international agreement?

it's the government of each country. But there's been an international ban on trade in ivory.
