Wild Dog Triple Kill

After tracking down the Wild Dogs, I stuck with them for a while, but they didn’t entertain my hopes for a few sports. They are always playful, but yesterday they went early to find a place to sleep for the night. So Mark being on the attack as usual, was up before 4 am with a flat tyre to begin the day. I conveniently brought Craig, the new chef, along for the entertainment. He didn’t entertain us, but you know what I mean -hunger was not going to be an issue. Anyway, entertainment was the order of the day, the dogs were clowning around when we arrived.

African Fish-Eagle, Malilangwe

That mischievous spirit took full control as they raced after a group of baboons on the hillside. The whole valley resounded with “the bark of the baboon” as the sound echoed from one side to the other. These dogs are the best! They just love life, even within the boundaries that they’ve been assigned. I think we should live in the moment, but plan for the future. Take it; leave it. Use it; don’t use it, that is just an observation from nature.

Drinking Giraffe, Malilangwe

By the time we realised they had emerged on the opposite side of the koppie, they were already chewing on an Impala leg. After that the pups proceeded to take down a baby Impala in front of our eyes – they are growing up. The female then took down another and we were amazed at the amount of excitement in one morning with the dogs. Then 15 minutes later, the Alpha male launched an attack on a herd of impala and took down another baby impala in front of our eyes. This was crazy! With the adrenaline pumping, I was hoping to capture something on film, but it’s like riding rodeo with a camera in your hand. They then settled for the day and we left feeling exhilarated.
