Buffalo Flood: Video

The wild dogs were all so well fed this morning. They must have killed in the evening or last night with the moon.
For the most part the pups played while the adults lay around keeping guard. Then they headed south and I was sure they’d rest up at Khayeni pan. But they didn’t even go there and ended up ‘sort of’ chasing some impala south of Khayeni into that THICK stuff!

I followed, well tried, as they continued to mill around in the thick bush. Nothing comfortable about that for me, but the pups were having a party.

When we eventually crossed a road I decided to let them venture on into their rough playground, keeping tabs on the signal as they continued south eventually resting up in the thickets.
And their afternoon adventures were much the same as the morning, except in reverse and I hardly got to see them until they popped out on Khayeni open area, only to chase impala all the way south into the thickets as it got dark.
So, rather a bleak day with the doggies, but I can’t really complain as most days I have them all the time.
Some 400 strong

On the way back to camp in the late morning this large herd of buffalo crossed the main road south of Sosigi dam. Expecting them to pop out at the dam about an hour later, I waited and sure enough they arrived. And just kept coming! Maybe some 400 buffalo and what a stunning sight.
