No Sharing: Video

For a change it was a pretty chilly morning, only about 80F, and enough to keep the pups all huddled up until after sunrise.
The adults took then at a rather leisurely pace south and sort of on the hunt but there definitely wasn’t much enthusiasm there. But somewhere along the line in the dense bush dad caught a Sharpe’s Grysbok. This tiny little antelope didn’t do much to feed the pups and nothing for the adults.

Remains
One of the pups saved a piece of skin/cartilage which then became the focus of attention as they all wanted it and the owner had no peace at all. Whatever happened to that piece I don’t know, I think it got dropped somewhere along the way. The waiting hooded vultures probably got lucky with it later while the pack all slept. And when they sleep they sleep. They don’t bother about vultures only feet away from them.

Tormentor
With the weather having cooled somewhat I thought the dogs might have a go at impala on their way in to drink but with the first big herd arriving they didn’t even flinch, so I knew that was them done until dusk.

Stalker
By late afternoon it was getting really cold and still the dogs didn’t move until almost sunset. The pups started their afternoon games with the usual chasing of vultures that were feasting on any fresh wild dog faeces they could find.
And by nightfall they were still milling around no closer to feeding themselves.
