The dogs just weren’t in the mood today.
I found them at Khayeni at dawn, the pups wildly at play and the adults just standing around as if waiting for the impala to come to them.
After an hour of this they eventually headed south and into that really dense bush. Still they just ambled on south eventually resting up in the thickets really early as another scorching day started to lay into us!

I went on a little tour today checking out areas I haven’t been to for some time. In the hills around Lojaan dam these elephants were doing their best to keep cool going from wallow to wallow. It seemed like the best day for the little guys. Temperatures were rocking again with it being well over 100F in the shade!

But then as I followed they were suddenly spooked by me and took off.
Their panic took them straight into a large herd of buffalo and they too took off. Some serious thunder under hoof.

At dusk the doggies headed all the way back north to Khayeni pan. And still they didn’t hunt as the pups played around. They’re probably all still well fed from yesterdays pig out!
