They tried: Video

Thankfully it was a calm cool morning when I took to the skies in search of elephants. I was joined by a helicopter in the skies and we soon located a herd.

Back on the ground I joined the capture team and a herd of 12 elephants was caught. I think this was 2 small herds that had joined. A very distinctive cow I called “Toothpick” was in this group.
The capture went smoothly and soon they were on their way to their new home.
I was back in the sky looking for those rhino calves that need ear-notching but didn’t have any joy there.
The turbulence was a bit rough again on my second flight and getting back to camp I passed out for several hours. Now that was just sooooooooo goooooooooood!!! I think I should do that more often ☺
I was awake just in time to go hunting with the wild dogs. They were lean. It looks like they didn’t hunt successfully yesterday or today and were off on an early start hunting this afternoon.

Soon the adults were on the chase and the pups got left behind. I was sure they’d kill, being in a good area and being so lean but they came up empty handed. Then it was back to find the pups.
Seeing mom and dad returning the pups took off towards them hoping for a meal, but it was a false alarm and all go hungry again.

I think with the moon half full they might just hunt again this evening. But hopefully they’ll wait for me tomorrow morning as the area they’re hunting in is perfect and one of the only areas that I might just be able to film them actually catching their prey.
