As big as they are, one wonders why elephant bulls would even hesitate to move down to drink at Sosigi dam. Surely they couldn’t be scared of anything and especially with 4 of these giants marching together. But they were nervous out in the open as they approached the dam. Then having gained their confidence they moved with purpose down to drink.

This is my last day in the fairest Cape. Not so fair though with the cold wet weather, but still a wonderful place. Does it rival the lowveld bushveld? Hmmm………? For me, definitely not but a great place to get away for a few days.

What on earth could frighten a bull elephant? Interesting behavior, especially for brash young guys.
Funny how they change lead now and then, stop, trunk goes up, another becomes leader. I could almost feel the ground move as they approched.Just wonderful to watch, thank you.
1. A bigger, older bull, especially if he were in musth and feeling grouchy, would send these four packing.
2. A human
3. Smoke
4. Blood
Just musing aloud here…
Do bulls come together to socialize for a bit and then go on their own? or do they also tend to travel together at times?
they tend to travel together
Thank you for this video, Kim. We seem to see families more than groups of big males. It was wonderful to witness.
