Pups find toys: Video

Golly this is just brilliant being able to be with the dogs on daily basis. Following them on the hunt is always difficult but at least I’m getting to spend time with them. And they’re chilling out really well.
They must have killed after we left in the dark last night, as this morning they were all well fed and didn’t show any blood stains from a fresh kill.
I spent a few hours with them milling around but as the day warmed up they passed out in the shade.

Moving on to other pastures I found these 2 elephant bulls at Nyari pan just having had their mud wallows and now dust bathing.
This big dude wasn’t keen to move off, but seemed more interested in trying to intimidate me. In the vehicle that wasn’t going to work but if I was on foot I might just have had a ‘little’ problem.

Sosigi dam was a hive of activity on this hot day, with many herds of zebra and impala coming and going.

Lined up
I was happy to see Manyari again. She was alone near Chinzwini dam and when she stood up I noticed her udder being swollen, but I wasn’t sure if she was about to have cubs or had already had them. If she’s had them, they’re probably hidden in a cave in the hills and we still won’t see them for about another 3months. But if she hasn’t, she should give birth in the next couple of days.

Suckling?
Back to the dogs in the late afternoon and they were in no hurry to get going, also taking a little strain in the heat. When they did awake just before sunset, my vehicle again was hot on their interest charts, but soon sticks and other items became their toys of choice. Until mom and dad headed off hunting at sunset.
Filing out

I had to leave as it got dark without them having encountered any prey to give chase.
