The wild dogs are still around. At sunset the adults were drinking at Manyuchi pan having come in from the north. So I’m presuming the pups are holed up somewhere to the north of the pan.

Tomorrow I’ll take to the skies again and see if I can locate them. AND the good news is, if they are denning to the north I should be able to get there by vehicle and so not have to hassle the dogs with me on foot.

The hyaena den was pretty quiet today. Just the one mother was there suckling her 2 little ones in the morning and again they were there in the evening.

At sunset mom headed off west and that’s when I left too and found the dogs at Manyuchi.
For the most part of the day I was out searching for the dogs and these 2 young white rhino bulls weren’t about to allow me a photo shoot.

The baboons had made short work of the fruit of this baobab tree on Khayeni. These fruits have a hard thick shell and only the bigger baboons are able to bite them open to get to the tasty sour inside. Obviously much enjoyed by baboons judging by the way the empty shells litter the area.

You can really see the intelligence in their eyes. They really are a beautiful animal.
How sweet. I am very impressed by these animals. I was in Sabi Sands in June and A hyena ran in to our boma a snatched a huge plate of cheese, ever since then I have fell in love with these guys, they are quite the characters. Great video of this little opportunist
Most people don’t think of hyenas as cute, but these guys are anything but not cute (double negative, doh!)
A softer side of these intelligent animals. What a beutiful face.
Ahhh ….. the vulnerability of the young…….always so enchanting - but watch out when they get older! Very cute indeed.
