Wildcast

I was convinced the lion I heard calling early in the morning from my office was Manyari and she had to be pretty close to the airstrip.
But once in the sky I didn’t pick up anything and searched for over 2 hours.

Back on the ground I was up on the hills checking for a signal and Voila! I found her resting up in the shade in long grass. She looked fine, but I needed her to get up and walk. Eventually when only a meter from her she moved a few paces and lay down again. She looks well fed and just fine. Lying up in that long grass I wasn’t able to see if that porcupine quill was still in her chest.

I flew again in the late afternoon to see why it was I didn’t pick up Manyari from the air, but all seemed fine once I had fine tuned the whole system.
So that was most of my day taken up with flying.
Passing through Banyini this lone elephant bull was nervous to be out there drinking in the middle of the day. He carried on once I had passed.

Remains of a carcass brought a few vultures pouring out the sky, but it really was only a few bones.

The Knob-thorn Acacias are still in full flower and the baboon are making the most of it. This in turn has the impala following them picking up flowers that drop with their wasteful feeding habits. These are lucky pickings for the impala as they are flowers that would otherwise be out of reach to them. Also, hanging out with baboons means they have the best alarm system in the bush.
