Giraffe Ritual Battle

Today, I headed to the north of the reserve towards Sosigi Dam. The dam was beautiful but no game was drinking this evening.

Only a troop of unfriendly baboons were around. they kept sliding down out of sight whenever I moved. Perhaps it was a game for them.

On th way back, I saw this little mongoose. He trotted down the road in front of me for a while. Usually they disappear into the grass as soon as they see you. Kim arrived this evening and so will be back with you tonight.

  • Thanks Darryl. That was really interesting & seemed so elegant.

  • Nice video Darryl, the ritual looks so elegant but in reality when the giraffes are serious you can hear the sound of their necks banging away. It’s a horror when one gets seriously injured.
