I rushed out early this morning hoping to find Manyari as I received reports last night that she was around.
I needed to get to her early before I got carried away building my hangar.

Eventually I picked up the lions resting just off the Binya road. Manyari was there with another female, Magwaza, and her 2 males. Although they definitely didn’t have plans on moving, I did, and headed back south to the airstrip.

With blistered hands from a good days work it was back to the lions at dusk and I took the girls with me. We found the lions already active heading north on the main road.
This is a district road that cuts through the western side on the reserve, and tomorrow being a holiday, meant this evening many people were heading home for a long weekend.

When the first vehicle past them, the lions moved back onto the road to chill out in the open as the grass is still long out there and definitely not comfortable to be lying up in.
Several more vehicles came and Magwaza just watched as they moved by but the male and Manyari weren’t quite as brave.
I jumped out the car to film from the ground hoping to obscure the road in my shots but that didn’t work and I just had to go with what I got. Of course Magwaza was interested in this thing all hunched up next to the vehicle. She came closer and closer and then plonked down not even 10m away. Her interest then turned to my daughters in the vehicle as they gossiped their life away. Of course as girls do.
