Boring!

I couldn’t find the lions at dawn but did find the pair of Secretary birds preening and starting their day foraging.
Elephant were just as scarce with just a single bull at Hwata pan.

My travels proved rather bleak except for giraffe. There were many on Banyini most of the day.

Still in the heat of the day around 3pm, Manyari and another lioness were hunting near the pan, interested in a herd of giraffe. But they didn’t really go for it as both lions were pretty well fed resting up for the rest of the day.

Just before leaving them at dusk a Spotted Eagle Owl landed next to us in the dead tree.

So a really quiet day but then I can’t complain after all the action over the last week. And anyway I still get a huge kick out of just being in the field all day. Life IS good!

Such a big bird for such a small tree top. I’ve never seen a SecretaryBird in a tree before. Even on a slow day your life is exciting in the bush! Need a cook???
This bird should actually be called “giraffe bird” (describes it much better).
Nothind wrong with your day! There is still something happening, even if it comes in the form of feathers. I really like Secretary birds, I find them quite elegant looking.
happy weekend!

Such elegance! And. For ten to the power of 6: Thank you, knew about the quills, but I too, had only ever seen pictures of them on the ground and knew nothing of their daily lives. After watching her, thought maybe this was a dawn dance, much better way to greet the day! By chance, when the male is involved in the courtship dance, does it resemble the cranes? Surely she isn’t the only one to dance (thought that happened mostly with us….)
Okay, a cook offer you have. Any need for a driver, film holder, flat tire changer (breathily and definitely quick in view of any elephant or black rhino charges!!!); hmmmm, and a semi-staunch promise to attend to all of the above when in the presence of lions??
