Cute elephant calf swims: Video

Lots of elephants again all day!
I was out early this morning but was a total wreck. I think jet lag, the 11hour drive the day before, recovering from my operation and getting to bed in the early hours this morning, all suddenly caught up with me. At 7am just driving down the road I was falling asleep behind the wheel.

Giraffe herd
Realising I wasn’t going to get very far, and instead of going back to camp, I dropped in at the pan north east of Chivi. Here I found myself a shady spot and got some rest. Well actually I passed out on my camera boxes.

Can't wait
It was only around 10am that I was awoken by an elephant bull having just arrived to have a mud bath. He was soon joined by another and shortly afterwards several breeding herds arrived.

Time out
One-Tusk was there with her herd and their new little guy. He’s already totally addicted to water and was having a whale of time with no plans on leaving.

Decidedly cute
The herds wallowed and swam all around me for nearly 2 hours before they slowly dispersed south into the thick mopanie woodland.

Trunk wrestling
Heading back east to Banyini the Quelea were still swarming on the pan all day frantically collecting seed and water to feed their chicks. And today even more white-faced ducks lined the shoreline to watch the spectacle.

A bigger audience
But as much as the bush is the same every day it’s also very different and I really just can’t get enough of it. Even in my slumbered state I was loving every moment out there.
