Giraffe Silhouetted in the Dawn

Today my evening drive started much the same as yesterday. A leisurely cruise along the airstrip, jackals in the distance a herd of zebra to my right. And then I decided to go check if they had started pumping to Banyini pan ( they had). A huge tortoise was just around the corner. then, a little past the pan, I spotted two male lions under the Chinese Lantern trees. It was the same lions which had attacked the Nduna male a few months ago. They appear to be nomadic lions who have taken a liking to the area. As you can see, they look a bit thin but if they hang around, there are sure to be fireworks with the nduna pride.

They were very skittish and left quite hastily after seeing us. I added a snake ( a fast, grey blur) and some beautiful birds to my days tally. Then a beautiful sunset and the Banyini Baobab topped off a beautiful afternoon.

  • Lovely to wake up to, Kim. How I would love to see that scene somewhere here in Vermont. Don’t think the giraffe would care for it though..we are covered with snow and expecting more of the same today, lots more!

Thank you for another beautiful scene.
