An African Dawn

A bonus to this time of year is the dramatic skies and sunsets that occur. Most of my photos today have dark and moody skies as a backround. This giraffe bent his head down to eat from a low Chinese Lantern Tree. It is called a Chinese Lantern after its small delicate flowers, shaped like a chinese lantern. It is also the cause of most of our punctures.

This Swainson’s Francolin (or Spurfowl as they are now known) was on this branch about a metre high. He was calling to advertise his territory. After calling twice, he fluttered off to find a roost. It was amazing to have a close view of this well known bush sound being produced.

A little gap in the clouds shone sun on this family of zebra out on the Banyin. I know the grass looks too green to be real but it is like that. Such a rich vibrant green. It did not rain today but the wind has picked up this evening and we may get rain again tonight. I may have to swim out tommorrow.
