Apart from the obvious herbivore calving that accompanies the rains, I have enjoyed the insect boom at least as much. I tried for a long time to capture these delicate butterflies gently sipping nectar. Trying to follow fast moving insect through a long lens involves many blurred photos of grass and mud with not a butterfly in sight !

Further along the hills, I came across a pair of rare Black eagles (Aquila Verrauxii). The pair sat for a while and I got a nice series of shots of the eagle taking off, I only wish I could have got closer. Here are two pictures out of the series.

They are an amazing, huge black bird with a white V across their back.

Another interesting piece of news is three wild dog have been sighted in the center of Malilangwe and we are hoping they are here to stay, re-colonising the area after the last pack was decimated by rabies

Kim do you have any idea where the wild dogs came from? And has there been any sign of Whiskey being with them?
