18th November 2000
She’s blown his bubble!! Actually don’t know how he blew his bubble but it’s good news. The big swelling on Tjololo’s face has now burst and gone except for a hole about 10mm across. It must have been an abyss from something that has now burst and should flush itself.
He was still doing the rounds with his girl with her continuing with her “shy” behaviour.

We were sent back to camp soon after leaving in the morning, as the heavens opened up on us, but half an hour later they’d let up and we were able to get out again.
Leaving the mating couple we traveled north and saw a fair amount of game but didn’t shoot any film with not much behaviour going on.
We did find a Ground Hornbill on a nest in the north, which is always good news, as they don’t always nest every year. The nest is a large open hole in a tree, not like other hornbills that close their females in the nest leaving a small slit through which they are fed.
Again around midday the rain came but was gone, well sort of, when we ventured out in the afternoon. It carried on with an irritating drip just about all afternoon and some really threatening clouds were roaming around to our east when we drove into camp after sunset.
Tjololo and his girl hadn’t moved since the morning, again nothing much we could do with them.
