Vultures tend to bathe daily if they can and will spend hours resting up and drying out, usually on sandbanks of sandy rivers. This day having fed on a hippo carcass close to Malilangwe dam they came to bathe afterwards. It’s always such a comical affair as they drop one shoulder in the water, then the other, then head in and bum down. As soon as one takes the plunge the others follow and like clockwork they bathe, left, right, head and bum. Such comics.

We made it back to Malilangwe. So great to be back although it is the middle of the night and not far from camp the road was completely blocked. An elephant had pushed a tree right across the road blocking it! In my normal casual way I got out the car to move the tree and then suddenly realised the elephant was still there feeding about 20m away. He wasn’t too phased and let me move the tree and we were able to pass.
