Giraffe in the River: Video

Giraffe are always cautious when going down to drink in the river as their compromising drinking position renders them really vulnerable to predators. So it’s no wonder they go down to drink in numbers, each keeping an eye out for the other.
Rivers also often serve as natural boundaries for giraffe. Even when the rivers are shallow, for some reason giraffe just won’t cross them.

Back to Jackson Hole. Lots of snow fell on the mountains last night and we took to a trail on the Teton Pass. We were the first on the trail at dawn. What a blast walking in virgin snow with no sign of man around. And to crown it all, it snowed while we were on the trail. What a blast for a little African boy!

Of course I was rolling snow balls all along the trail. I found it amazing how they don’t actually melt in your hand and seem to stay dry. Weird!

And then we bumped in to a couple of young moose. A young male and female. They were so chilled out and not too phased with me trying to get up close and personal. And it was snowing at the same time. What a blast!!!
