For some reason the elephant herds don’t like to drink and swim at Simbiri dam in full daylight. They will hang around south of the airstrip feeding and usually only move in to drink just after sunset. So it was a bargain to get them drinking at the dam in full daylight.

I suppose the longer I spend in the field I just have to get lucky some time.
Sitting up high on the rocks on my vantage point was a great perspective to watch the elephants coming to drink in this natural amphitheatre.
