Giraffe kiss: Video

I ventured into the hide at Nhoro pan today and am now finally on top of all my admin.

Alert
The pan was active all day with birds coming and going.
And impala just kept coming and coming, huge herds of them.

Keen drinkers
But what I was really hoping for were the giraffe. Eventually in the late afternoon they came and I was able to get those wonderful big close up, low angle shots I was looking for.

Smooch
The pan was also visited by a number of herds of zebra.

Stripes
And two big herds of wildebeest with the odd scattering of warthog and even a couple of duiker.
And all the time the birds just kept coming.

Waiting

I packed it in after sunset and while loading the car, 2 hyaenas couldn’t contain their curiosity and came over to see what I was all about. And of course they don’t get bored. I left them still watching.

The Tjololo Diaries

6th August 2000
Tjololo spent the night with his impala kill in the donga allowing us limited visibility. We moved on looking for greener pastures.

Back at the wild dog den we’d found about a month ago we found 8 pups running around. They are still very much den bound and the adults bring food back to the den for them. In the morning returning to the den there was only one adult there, the others having gone hunting while this one stayed behind to look after the pups.
