The Tjololo Diaries

17th June 2000
Tjololo wanderings continued as he took us on another long night’s ride on his way north hunting as he went. Some hyaenas trailed him for a while but soon gave up to look for their own entertainment.
It’s encouraging to see Tjololo’s still making use of his territory north of the Kapen river where the other male has been pressurizing him. Here in the early hours he killed a young male impala, which he treed and fed on, before taking a much deserved break. Needless to say a much deserved one for us too.

We were greeted by yet another stunning African sunrise, but always so frustrating not having something to film against it. Had Tjololo been in the tree with the kill we would have had some outrageous images. We can only dream about it.
