I’m not too sure whether to take this as some human apparition or something else. The long squiggly neck and then a skirt?
No doubt some figure that was seen in a trance.











Perhaps an ancient “giraffe woman,” of the Ndebele?
It looks like a stylized representation body modification to my eye, the “stretched” neck and even the thickly-ringed calf.
Judging from the length of her neck, I’d guess that she was married to a very wealthy man. Maybe her neck is squiggly because she’s had the copper rings removed upon her husband’s death?
Whoever she is, she made quite an impression with this artist. She must have been lovely.
