The Tjololo Diaries

7th May 2000
With Tjololo lazing around trying to digest a hugely rounded stomach we called the Mala Mala rangers and they brought their guests to have a real live glimpse of “The One Who Stands Alone!”
Tjololo spent the whole night at the carcass. A hyaena did arrive briefly to pick up the small scraps that had fallen from the table.

Just before dawn, Tjololo polished off the carcass. I honestly don’t know how he fitted it all in. When he left heading south, every step he took he had to correct himself from falling over as he barrel shaped stomach seemed set to topple him. He didn’t move far and rested up.
On our long haul north in the evening and again back in the morning we bumped into 2 different female leopards.
