17th April 2000
Tjololo takes it in his stride.
Obviously still sore and carrying his ears flat Tjololo still took up his beat. He took us hunting impala through thick and thin getting us stuck once for some time. With the impala rutt picking up he was able to home in on the different herds as the males roared, but the full moon seemed to guarantee failures as the impala spotted his silhouette in the long grass. For a while he followed an adult male impala with a broken leg, but even with this handicap it got away. It’s leg probably being broken tripping over a stump while chasing other males around in the rutt.

We had to leave Tjololo just before dawn as he headed down the Tjellahanga that’s an area where all the seeps are all still pumping.
