Back onto night shift.

This was just a quick posting on Wildcast today as we head on to night shift.

Tonight we’ll be out the trail of the Nduna pride and intend to be out there all night. The plan is to follow these lions for the next 6 weeks on their nocturnal forays.

Just got some news in that Tjololo has been seen recently on Mala Mala and is still doing well. He sure is the One who stands alone!

The hunt is on as these guys seem to be following up on an animal that has already been shot. But unfortunately the rest of the scene to the right has been obliterated by weathering and a white chemical wash.

14th April 2000
Presuming Tjololo still to be on his warthog kill we didn’t venture that far north. Working in the south waiting at the hyaena den proved unfruitful.

Later in the evening the lions were still on the giraffe carcass.
We also found 2 lionesses and a young male hunting right in the south and after an attempt at some waterbuck rested up. About an hour later an adult male lion sneaked up on them and only when about 10m off did he blow his cover. As they saw him, he charged full of aggression. The lions got away, but who knows what would have happened if one was caught. On “Beauty and the Beasts” we saw how an injured lioness was murdered by 2 males.

Soon after midnight a gentle drizzle set in and stopped play.
