Tjololo 12th April 2000

The Tjololo Diaries

Boys are back on the road again. And Tjololo was taking it easy at Charleston koppies when we found him at midnight. It would appear he only got out of Kruger today. Leaving Charleston koppies he ventured into never never land across the ‘swamps’. We tried to intercept him along the way but his calls continued on through the bush where we couldn’t follow.

In the south 3 young male lions had killed a pregnant giraffe.

In the north the 2 lions that stole the nyala kill from Tjololo a few days ago had killed a waterbuck bull. Very interestingly we heard from the Mala Mala rangers that a 4 month old leopard cub was sneaking in to feed on the carcass when the lions were resting. A very dangerous past time for the little fellow.
