Our little elephant sure made a hot entry into the world with temperatures sitting around 40C (104F) for the last few weeks.
And not surprising he doesn’t get around much in the heat of the day. Imagine those soft little feet having to deal with walking on baking hot sands.
While our little herd were spending most of their day in the shade, a bigger part of the breeding herd were down at the Malilangwe dam again where swimming was hot(cool) on the agenda.

And Hartebeest pan was livingĀ up to its name when this herd of Lichtensteins Hartebeest came to drink.
So the heatwave continues with no sign of abating. But it does assure me of finding activity at the waterholes. And there’s only so much of that, that I can film.
So with this relative non-activity, except at the waterholes, I’m looking at changing my working times and possibly going into night shift mode again soon. There is bound to be more activity in the cooler hours.
