Wild Dogs battle for Survival: Video

Tearing through the bush after prey they are so exposed to possibly injury. Tree stumps and branches rip through their thin skins so easily. And injury is open to infection which has already taken the lives of 2 of our pack members.
Having been away for a week now in Bristol, UK, at the Wildscreen Wildlife Film Festival, I’m really keen to get back to Malilangwe and see how the dogs are faring.
Also the city is getting a bit much now. I need some clean air, and want to smell the dust again. Not to mention, I’ve had enough of wearing shoes!

What a shame to see them get injured but I assume that is where having a larger group would be to the injured animal’s advantage. Do you happen to notice when theirs an injured animal that the pack will change is movement to help assist the dog? I am surprised that one dog towards the end of the video didn’t get an infection earlier, that looked like a serious injury!
Yes, I agree with Mon@rch.
It´s a real pitty to see this type of things, but we all know how nature deals with its subjects. And wild dogs are so delicate and prone to having plenty of problems…
Thanks once again Kim for showing us, also, the dark side of it.
Good times, bad times.
Hope the wild dogs don´t get very far away and you can keep with them in order to catch all their tribulations.
Stay well.
Cheers,
Dave.
I have seen some pack members helping injured dogs and licking their injuries for them. Even one dog licking ‘One-Eye’s’ sore eye. And they will bring food to them too.
I don’t know how Doby lasted so long with that tail end injury. It always looked like it was getting better and then suddenly in a week it progressed to her death.
I sure hope to be back on their trail soon. Just a few more days now.
Kim
