Sad News: Crocodile Hunter dies in marine accident
Published by GameWarden 2 years, 4 months ago Tags: conservation, crocodile hunter, documentary, steve irwin, stingray. We just learnt the sad news via the wires that one our heroes, Steve Irwin - The Crocodile Hunter, has been killed in a marine accident. According to the Daily Telegraph, he was diving off Port Douglas on the Queensland Coast when he was hit by a sting-ray barb that went through his chest.
This is dreadful news for the conservation community and those involved with wildlife broadcasting. Steve was an icon and loved by millions around the world for his genuineness and enthusiasm. His pioneering approach to wildlife programming won him a huge fanbase and created a whole new category for wildlife broadcasting.
He will be hugely missed and our deepest sympathies go out to his wife Terri, the kids and the rest of the Irwin family.

I am from Canada and I can rememebr the first time seeing Steve on the tv and thinking to myself…”girl, this one is gonna make a difference”. Sometimes it seems as though, those who so unselfishly help the world around them and give so much of themselves to their cause and their passion are not kept long enough in the world. To one of the proudest husbands and fathers I have ever seen, right down to the infectious compassion he had for all of god’s creatures…mate we know that God must have bigger plans for you and even though this time of grief will be very difficult for your loved ones, I hope they remember that you made an impact about how to love, live and make the world around us a better place.
Such sad news for Steve’s Family, the Conservation Community, and millions worldwide. Steve did live his life like every day was his last and backed up his heartfelt words with action. In his 44 years on this earth he lived more than a full life by normal standards and died doing what he loved. What more could a person ask for? We grieve for those he left behind and lift up Terri, Bindi and Bob in prayer.
